Rev. John M. DeRiso, C.S.C.
Pastor


Fr. John hails from Long Island, New York. He graduated from Notre Dame in 1993 with a degree in Political Science and French. While performing a year of service in downtown Phoenix, Arizona, Fr. John discerned a vocation to the priesthood and religious life, entering the seminary for the Holy Cross Fathers in 1994. Fr. John professed final vows in September 2001, and was ordained to the priesthood in 2002. His first assignment was to St. John Vianney Parish in Avondale, Arizona, where he ministered to a large immigrant population. He has been Pastor of Saint Joseph since July of 2004.

Rev. John Patrick Riley, C.S.C.
Associate Pastor


Fr. John Patrick is a native of Buffalo, New York. He is a graduate of Canisius College of Buffalo and Notre Dame Law School. He professed his final vows in Holy Cross in 1993 and was ordained a priest in 1994. Before coming to Saint Joseph, Fr. John Patrick served as Associate Pastor of Sacred Heart Parish in Colorado Springs. His other ministry has included serving as Associate Pastor at Christ the King Parish, missionary work in East Africa, and nine years as Pastor of Sacred Heart Parish at Notre Dame.

Rev. Brian Ching, C.S.C.
Associate Pastor



Fr. Brian was born in New York City and grew up in Flushing, New York, where he graduated from Holy Cross High School in 2003. He earned a bachelor’s degree from Notre Dame in 2007 and a Master of Divinity in 2012, entering Old College during his sophomore year at Notre Dame. Before coming to Saint Joseph Church in 2012, Fr. Brian has served as a volunteer chaplain with Penrose Hospital in Colorado Springs, as a religious education teacher at St. Pius X Catholic Church in Granger, and as a seminarian intern at Holy Cross’ St. John Vianney Parish in Goodyear, Arizona. Fr. Brian professed his final vows in Holy Cross on August 25, 2012, and was ordained a priest on April 6, 2013.

Suzanne Wiwi
Principal


Mrs. Wiwi grew up right here in South Bend and is an alumna of Saint Joseph Grade School. She completed her undergraduate degree in elementary education at Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana. She received her Master's in Education and licensure in Administration at Indiana University South Bend. Mrs. Wiwi began her career as a second grade teacher at LaPaz Elementary School in LaPaz, Indiana. She was there for 13 years before she came to Saint Joseph. She taught second grade for five years before becoming Principal in the fall of 1989. Mrs. Wiwi and her husband Mark have been married for 32 years; their son Christopher lives with his wife Amy in Morristown, New Jersey.

Kara O'Malley
Director of Christian Formation


Kara is a 2004 graduate of the University of Notre Dame where she majored in Accountancy and minored in Theology. Kara received a Master of Arts in Theology with a concentration in Catechesis from Notre Dame in August 2006. From 2006-2010, Kara served as Director of Religious Education and Youth Minister at Our Lady of Help Christians Parish in Newton, Massachusetts.

Debi Haug
Director of Community Life and Outreach


Debi, a native Hoosier, earned her degree in Pastoral Leadership at Marian University in Indianapolis in 2000 and has worked in ministry ever since. She loves serving our parish community as the Director of Community Life and Outreach where she helps facilitate parish events and provides opportunities for parishioners to serve others. When not planning parish events or coordinating service projects, she eats lots of vegetables and spends quality time with her sons Joshua (a Saint Joseph student) and Samuel, and her husband Christopher.

Sean Kennedy
Director of Marketing and Communications


Sean grew up in Iowa City, Iowa, and graduated from Boston College in 1998 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English and Economics. He went on to earn his Master's degree in Education from Boston College in 2000, and spent 12 years working in information technology at his alma mater. Sean and his wife Karen moved to South Bend with their three children in January 2012; their oldest child is a kindergartner at Saint Joseph. In his ministry here, Sean oversees marketing and communications initiatives, helping to publicize and promote all of the wonderful ministries and events taking place in the parish.

Kim Thompson
Director of Music and Liturgy


Kim is a native of the Pacific Northwest and grew up in Lake Oswego, Oregon. Kim earned her Bachelor of Arts in Music at the University of Portland in 2005. From 2005 to 2006, she volunteered as a Holy Cross Associate and held the position of Volunteer Coordinator at the Robinson Community Learning Center in South Bend. Kim and her husband Charlie married at the Downtown Chapel in Portland in 2007. After moving to South Bend in the fall of 2007, Kim earned her Master in Sacred Music degree from the University of Notre Dame. She interned for two years at Our Lady of the Lake Church in Edwardsburg, MI, and coordinated liturgical music at Holy Cross/St. Stanislaus Parish in South Bend for one year. Kim enjoys bicycling, nature study, and playing with her toddler Gabriel.

Charmaine Torma
Director of Stewardship and Development


Charmaine is a 1999 graduate of Saint Mary's College Notre Dame where she majored in Sociology and Psychology with a concentration in Child Development. Prior to coming to Saint Joseph, she served as Assistant Director of Reunion Giving at her alma mater. Charmaine collaborates with the Pastoral Team and the parish Stewardship Commission in promoting Christian stewardship as a disciple's way of life. She also plays an essential role in the parish's development-related efforts. She and her husband Mark are the parents of two Saint Joseph Grade School students.
