St. Joe Children's Choir at Christmas Eve Mass
Choir
The Choir is directed by Theresa Slott, Director of Liturgy and Music. Choir members sing at the10:00am Sunday Mass and other major parish events. The adult Choir at St. Joe rehearses Wednesday evenings at 7:00pm in the church. All are welcome, from beginners to experienced singers.
Cantors
Cantors at St. Joe help to lead the congregation in song and invite full participation. In addition to the role of Psalmist, the cantor serves as a leader of prayer by helping to lead the congregations "sung prayer" throughout the liturgy.
Preparations to cantor are the individual responsibility of the cantor. Cantors are also invited to attend choir rehearsals on the weeks before they are scheduled at Mass. Cantors are encouraged to contact Theresa Slott with any questions or if they need help with preparation (spiritual preparation and musical preparation).
The current cantor schedule runs through the end of May 2010. If you are interested in this ministry, contact Theresa Slott.

Instrumentalists
Instrumentalists for Parish Masses are directed by Theresa Slott and our Student Instrumentalists from St. Joe Grade School are directed by Emmeline D'Agostino. An ensemble of youth musicians typically plays once a month at the Sunday 5:00pm Mass. However, instrumentalists are always invited and encouraged to play at whichever Mass they normally attend. Masses are scheduled on Saturday at 5:00pm, and Sunday at 8:00am, 10:00am, and 5:00pm.
Students at St. Joseph Grade School are actively involved in playing their instruments for the weekly School Masses. Many of those instrumentalists continue to play at the parish's weekend liturgies throughout their high school years. All youth and adult instrumentalists are invited to participate. Playing together at Mass can be a great family experience of the liturgy!
If you would like to get involved in this ministry, contact Theresa Slott or Emmeline D'Agostino.
Handbell Choir
The Handbell Choir is directed by Emmeline D'Agostino, Assistant Director of Liturgy and Music. St. Joe was given a three-octave set of handbells several years ago, and the bells had since only been used in the school. While the school children still use the bells in music class and at School Mass, we expanded the use of the bells with a parish group in 2007 to provide musical accompaniment at special parish liturgies.
The Handbell Choir rehearses on Thursdays from 7:00-8:00pm in the church. The ensemble plays for special parish liturgies throughout the year. They are currently preparing for the Advent and Christmas seasons.
If you would like to participate in this ministry, contact Emmeline D'Agostino, Assistant Director of Music and Liturgy, at edagostino@stjoeparish.com or 574-234-3134, ext. 21.
