The Community Life Commission of St. Joseph Parish seeks to foster an environment of care and welcome in our faith community.  Inspired by the bonds of charity and mutual concern that knit together the Holy Family and the early Christian Church, the Community Life Commission supports people in times of difficulty or need, offers opportunities that encourage fellowship among parishioners, and works to sustain and nurture the spirit of hospitality that is a hallmark of St Joe.  Through these efforts, and with the desire to build connections to the surrounding community as well, the Community Life Commission seeks to make the warmth of the St. Joseph Parish family a sign of our deep commitment to build up the Body of Christ in love and to see the Lord Jesus in all whom we meet. 

Community Life Commission ministries include a Meals Ministry offering parishioners temporary assistance with dinners after a death in the family, hospitalization, or birth of a baby.  Those with special needs for intercessory email them to the Prayer Chain (prayer@stjoeparish.com).  Parishioners will pray for these intentions immediately and regularly.  A book kept near the icon of the Blessed Mother in the Reservation Chapel also provides a place to inscribe prayer needs.

Community-building activities and projects also include Infant Baptism Receptions, Funeral Luncheons, Ministry to the Sick and Homebound, “Coffee and Conversation” gatherings after the Sunday morning Masses, an annual Lenten Fish Fry, a Parish Picnic in late summer, and a Spaghetti Supper.  The First Friday Seniors’ Group invites those 60 years and older to a monthly Mass, luncheon, and programs both entertaining and informative.

The Community Life Commission also hosts receptions for new parish families on "Welcome Sundays," held a few times per year.
