A Word of Welcome from our Pastor

Dear Friend,

Founded by Holy Cross priest, Father Edward Sorin, C.S.C., in 1853, ours is a dynamic parish community with a rich tradition of worship, service, and education in the heart of downtown South Bend. Saint Joseph parishioners are generous, friendly, and proud to call Saint Joseph their spiritual home.

As you join us in worship or just browse through our website, you will notice that Saint Joseph is a place with many ministries in the areas of Christian Formation, Community Life, Liturgy and Music, Operations, Christian Action, and Stewardship. We are particularly proud of our parish school, which educates the hearts and minds of nearly 450 children, in the Holy Cross tradition. Our parishioners know that active participation in parish functions and ministries is the way to feel a sense of belonging here at Saint Joseph. It is also a wonderful way to grow closer to God.

If you would like information on becoming a member of our faith community, just contact us at (574) 234-3134. I also invite you to stop by the parish offices at 711 E. Colfax Ave., and introduce yourself to me and to the other members of the Pastoral Team. We would be glad to welcome you!

May Saint Joseph – protector of the holy family and patron of the universal Church – pray for you and for this parish named in his honor! God bless!

Sincerely yours in the Lord,

Rev. Matt Fase, C.S.C.
