A Year of Faith at Saint Joseph
With his Apostolic Letter, Porta Fidei (The Door of Faith), Pope Benedict XVI declared that a "Year of Faith" begin on October 11, 2012, and conclude on November 24, 2013. The first day of the Year of Faith is the fiftieth anniversary of the opening of the Second Vatican Council and also the twentieth anniversary of the Catechism of the Catholic Church. During the Year of Faith, Catholics are asked to study and reflect on the documents of Vatican II and the catechism so that they may deepen their knowledge of the faith.
The Year of Faith is a “summons to an authentic and renewed conversion to the Lord, the One Savior of the world” (Porta Fidei 6). In other words, the Year of Faith is an opportunity for Catholics to experience a conversion – to turn back to Jesus and enter into a deeper relationship with him. The “door of faith” is opened at one’s baptism, but we are continually called to open it again, walk through it and rediscover and renew their relationship with Christ and his Church.
At Saint Joseph, we are providing a variety of options for you to renew your faith this year—check out the calendar in the sidebar for our current schedule of events! It is our hope that by reading and reflecting on the truths of our faith this year, we might grow in closeness to our God and fidelity to his teachings.

CCC Paragraphs 2697-2758
The Lord leads all persons by paths and in ways pleasing tohim, and each believer responds according to his heart’s resolve and thepersonal expression of his prayer. However, Christian Tradition has retained three major expressions ofprayer: vocal, meditative and contemplative. They have one basic trait in common: composure ofheart. This vigilance in keepingthe Word and dwelling in the presence of God makes these three expressions intensetimes in the life of prayer. (CCC 2699) Read more...
